Before & After School Programs
After School Enrichment
Many of the after school activities at Daniel Bagley are subsidized
by the PTA and scholarships are provided for qualifying families.
Programs vary each year based on family interest and availability.
The PTA encourages parent input into the selection of programs.
Each activity is one or two days per week on site for approximately
one hour. They are open to all students across grade levels with
tuition ranging from $60 to $165 for an 11 week program.
Offerings for the 2006-07 school year include:
| Science Adventures
CLUB GUTS: Otherwise known as the Anatomy Academy. Children tour the human body and all its amazing systems! They discover how the body works from the inside out as they explore the skeletal system in the Bone Zone, create a breathtaking lung model and become Heart Smart.
SCIENCE ROCKS: Children dig deep into the world of geology as they assemble their own rock collections complete with display cases. From lava to erosion, they discover how rocks are formed and recycled. The exploration includes a sweet taste of cookie geology and building a model volcano!
PLANET ZONE: Children embark on a thrilling voyage of discovery to meet our Sun and the worlds around it, from fiery Mercury to the icy edges of our solar system. They master moon phases and peer at the surface of the Sun as they dance through the orbits of the planets.
TOYOLOGY: Science has never been this much fun! Children take play to the next level as they find out what makes our favorite toys bounce, spin, swim and fly. They discover the amazing biology of Sea Monkeys®, the physics of tops, and the chemistry of Silly Putty®.
Spanish Class
Spanish is learned naturally through immersion in a fun,
hands-on, and interactive class! Children will learn through
songs, stories, finger puppets, food, and art projects. Teachers
will promote cross-cultural awareness through language instruction
with multiple tools and techniques. Since we are continuing
from last year, both first and second year classes are being
offered.
Chess Club
Chess Mates is in their 16th year of providing after-school chess programs to Seattle Public elementary and middle schools, and we are delighted to have them back teaching our children again for the second year. The program focuses on chess as a teaching tool to help children build future life and work skills.
